SAIA Region 1 hosts local event
January 14, 2025
The Scaffold & Access Industry Association’s Region 1 (includes members from Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut) group hosted a successful local meeting on Nov. 22, 2024, the Association reported.
Led by Region 1 SAIA Board Member Jim Bordeau, the half-day meeting was aimed at discussing the area’s concerns, regional matters at hand, training opportunities and more.
Eighteen participants attended the meeting, representing companies such as Marr Scaffold, Vanguard, BRS, BrandSafway, Seacoast Scaffold, Fraco, Atlas Safety Scaffold Inc. and American Anchor. OSHA was represented by Peter Barletta, Joe Green and Lauren Russo, who highlighted the need for improved training in Spanish.
“The meeting was very well-received,” Bordeau said. “All in attendance want to continue to have them bi-annually.”
American Anchor delivered a presentation on anchors and Marr Scaffold donated a two-meter platform used for hands-on demonstrations. The event also featured displays of new, used and damaged fall protection products to enhance training sessions.
With safety and collaboration as top priorities, Region 1 looks forward to continuing these productive gatherings in the coming year, and the SAIA hopes the successful outcome will inspire additional regions to host their own events.
Region 1 is planning to host its next meeting this coming spring, with a focus on mast climber safety, a topic chosen by attendee vote.
