Boom lifts at 450m

Two of Zoomlion’s electric articulating boom lifts have  been lifted to the top of the tallest skyscraper in Chengdu, China.

Currently under construction in the Dongcun residential district, the Greenland Shufeng 468 tower is a 450m tall super high-rise structure that comprises over 300,000 square metres of floor space, with a roof garden, retail and conference space, a hotel, residential apartments, and an exhibition centre.

The Zoomlion ZA20JE articulating models, which weigh 9.2 tonnes each and have a working height of 21.45m, were lifted to the peak of the tower, in order to carry out inspection works to the roof-top slewing tower crane that is helping to erect it. 

The two ZA20JE boom lifts were stationed atop the tower for two weeks to carry out inspection and maintenance tasks on the crane’s rotation driving system.

“The lifts have equipped with 440Ah battery pack, which can deliver outstanding performance for two-day when being fully charged.” said Guanghui Wang, Zoomlion Access principal engineer for articulating boom lifts.

Zoomlion’s ZA20JE model can reach up to 12.05m horizontally and offers a 8.25m up-and-over height, which provided operators with enough flexibility to navigate the skyscraper’s rooftop structure.

China’s Greenland Shufeng 468 tower incorporates a complex sloping geometric structural design and a high-performance damper bracing system that ensures it can withstand the impact of seismic activity in the region.

Upon completion the super high-rise will be southwestern China’s tallest building and the fourth tallest structure in the whole of China.
