Used cranes topped the record sales charts at September’s online used equipment auctions in the EMEA region held by Ritchie Bros.
Canada-headquartered Ritchie Bros held seven unreserved online equipment auctions in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region during September. It claimed record results, led by cranes achieving the highest individual lot prices.
Ritchie pointed out that this post-summer period is traditionally marked by slow sales. Instead, sales in September, “set new records and delivered remarkable outcomes across the EMEA region,” the company said.
Nearly 13,000 buyers were registered for the online auctions, almost half of whom were from outside the region. More than 12,500 lots of heavy equipment were sold across the seven sales.
Cranes top the charts
The highest price for a piece of equipment from the September EMEA region sales was a 60 tonne capacity 2019 Liebherr LTM 1060-3.1 three axle wheeled mobile telescopic crane which made €445,000. It sold from Italy and was headed to the USA.
Close behind it was the same make and model of Liebherr but a 2018 unit, also from Italy, sold to the UK. It realised €440,000. In fourth place was a 2017 Terex RT 45L, 45 tonne capacity rough terrain crane with 37.4 metre long boom. It achieved €220,000 and sold from Italy where it was going to stay.
A five year high was achieved in Dubai, both for the number of buyers and sellers. Spain saw a 40 per cent (792) more buyers than September 2023. The total number of lots at 2,114 was up 9.5 % on the same period a year earlier. Italy had 11 % more bidders, up to 3,231. It had 9 % more buyers and 2,287 lots were sold, up 5 %.
