Daimler Truck North America, LLC has delivered 20 zero-emission, battery electric Freightliner eCascadia Class 8 tractors to Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling (RCCB) for their heavy-duty fleet.

RCCB’s new additions, which operate with tank-to-wheel 100% all-electric capability, will help the company reduce diesel fuel consumption by 150,000 liters (40,000 gallons) annually, which is in line with RCCB’s target of cutting emissions by 30% by 2030.

“Our collaboration with Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling marks a significant milestone in promoting sustainable transportation,” said David Carson, Daimler North America senior vice president of sales and marketing. “The integration of Freightliner eCascadias into RCCB’s fleet showcases that business and environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand, all while fostering innovation and efficiency.”

The Freightliner eCascadias offer a recharge time of 2.5-3 hours for 80% capacity, and the tractors’ variety of battery and drive axle options provide ranges of approximately 155, 220 or 230 miles (249, 354 or 370 kilometers, respectively), which make them suitable for short and regional haul routes with depot-based charging.

Daimler said the Detroit ePowertrain ensures power, efficiency and reliability, along with the Detroit Assurance suite (Active Brake Assist 5, regional distribution, drayage and warehouse operations).

RCCB exclusively uses 20 Detroit eFill charging stations at their Downey, Calif., facility, and Reyes said integrating the new eCascadias will be seamless, thanks to contributions from its Detroit Charger Management System and Detroit eConsulting.
