As such, the Indian Demolition Association (IDA) is ramping up its efforts to bring demolition contractors and other professionals in related industries, the latest information on best practices.

It’s annual trade event, DEMTECH 2024, is set to be its largest one to date. It will take place from 11 to 14 December in Delhi, and will gather industry experts, stakeholders, and contractors to address the current demands being faced by the sector, and to discuss its future outlook.

Spread over four-days, the event comprises a one-day conference and an extensive expo, that aims to create a collaborative space for knowledge-sharing, showcasing innovations, and setting standards to help shape a safer, more efficient industry.

So, what can DEMTECH attendees expect from the event in real terms?

Improving Safety and Standards

The one-day conference on 13 December will focus on advancing safety and regulatory standards in India’s demolition sector.

Speakers include IDA Founder Chairman Mohan Ramanathan, who will address the current status of demolition and recycling practices both in India and globally, shedding light on how international perspectives can guide safer, more efficient practices domestically.

In addition, Shriram Matte, IDA Chairman, is set to speak about key safety lessons learned from recent demolition projects, exploring how critical insights from project challenges can inform safer standards.

Addressing Sustainability and Waste Management

The conference will also highlight sustainability, a core focus as the sector seeks effective ways to manage and recycle construction and demolition (C&D) waste.

Sessions on the future of recycling will offer practical insights into how demolition firms can adopt environmentally responsible practices, aiming to reduce landfill reliance and incorporate resource recovery.

As India’s demolition projects continue to increase, the need for sustainable practices grows, and DEMTECH 2024 is currently the only major event in the country that aims to create a forum for sharing scalable, actionable approaches.

Innovations in Equipment

Across all four days, DEMTECH 2024 expo (which will be co-located with Bauma Conexpo India) will showcase the latest machinery, tools, and services tailored to India’s demolition requirements.

The lineup of exhibitors includes major equipment providers like Epiroc and Mantovanibenne, along with local suppliers such as Madras Diamond Tools and Speedage Tools, offering equipment designed to address specific challenges, from high-rise dismantling to precise, controlled demolition in dense urban areas.

Practical Solutions

The event will also feature presentations on landmark demolition projects, highlighting the strategic use of technology in complex projects.

While Johnson Periera from Lissmac Middle East will discuss controlled demolition approaches using advanced diamond technology - a technique that improves precision and safety, Russil Kumar’s session will emphasise critical safety measures required for executing large-scale demolitions in urban spaces, providing a crucial perspective on managing risk in high-stakes environments.

A Collaborative Industry Effort

One of DEMTECH 2024’s primary goals is to foster collaboration and dialogue among professionals in the demolition sector.

Panel discussions and networking opportunities are aimed at encouraging the open exchange of experiences and expertise, in order to help the industry collectively adopt best practices.

Speaking with D&Ri recently, Fazrulla Basha, Secretary of the IDA, urged industry professionals across India to engage fully with the event.

He said: “I call upon each and every individual involved in this demolition industry to be a part of this exclusive conference on Demolition and recycling.

“This conference gives us a plethora of opportunities and a platform for learning various advancements in demolition techniques, as well as to gain insights in safety standards and various futuristic sustainable practices that are the need of the hour.

He added: “This event is going to be a complete, concrete investment for our futuristic professional growth and a better tomorrow of our industry, as we work together to shape safer, more efficient demolition practices.”

Through these discussions, DEMTECH 2024 is aiming to drive meaningful progress in India’s demolition practices, pushing for a future where industry standards meet the demands of both rapid urbanisation and environmental responsibility.

By highlighting practical strategies, regulatory insights, and collaborative solutions, DEMTECH 2024 represents an important step forward for India’s demolition sector.
