Lambertsson donates to Ukraine aid efforts

Scandanavia-based rental company Lambertsson has partnered with non-profit organisation Help Ukraine Gothenburg (HUG) to deliver more than 500 products to Ukraine, including sheds, power stations, lighting masts, fire extinguishers and other machines.

The collaboration started during the holidays, Lambertsson said, with sheds and power stations sent out in August to the front line in Kharkiv.

On arrival, the sheds were converted into field hospitals, field kitchens and places where soldiers can rest and recuperate.

Prior to sending the aid out, the company said it considered what kind of material would be needed that it would have otherwise been sold via the second-hand market.

Anders Barcheus, category manager for rental and modules at Lambertsson, said, “We started by identifying which needs might exist in a war zone and which products we had that could be spared.

“It was clear that power stations, lighting masts and power stations were needed, but also premises. Sheds are perfect because they can be easily rebuilt to suit different purposes.”

Carl Rülcker, CEO, Lambertsson, said, “The collaboration with HUG is completely in line with our core values ​​within Lambertsson. I notice that this is appreciated by our employees and strengthens the community within the company.

“The equipment we send to Ukraine is one that has a long service life left, but where certain updates are required so that it can continue to be used in Sweden.”

He added, “We have done this as an experiment, without promises of continued support. However, since the reception has been so successful and appreciated, we have decided to increase our commitment to Ukraine. More sheds will soon be ready for transport, and it will also be relevant with other equipment.”

According to the coordinator for HUG’s transport to Ukraine, Kateryna Aleksandrova, the help from Lambertsson comes at a time when there is “a slowdown in interest in donating to Ukraine.”

“Therefore, it is worth its weight in gold for us when large companies stand up and perhaps even show the way for others,” she said. 

Further shipments from Lambertsson will involve the delivery of more sheds and various electrical equipment to secure the electricity network for the winter, which Rülcker said “risks being difficult if large parts of the electricity grid are knocked out.”
