Rehlko (formerly known as Kohler Energy) has debuted a new gasoline turf engine at Equip Expo, the annual event for the turf industry taking place Oct. 15-18 in Louisville, Ky. The Command PRO 888 is the first engine to be introduced under the Rehlko brand.

Available in two distinct versions – the CV829 and CV832 – the 800cc Command PRO 888 represents the next generation of the company’s carbureted gasoline engines, Rehlko stated. It is engineered to power a range of commercial ride-on and stand-on mowers, with its compact size and drop-in replacement capability allowing for easy integration into existing OEM designs – without extensive redesigns – as well as new installations.

The engines achieve a high power density within a compact design. The CV829 is rated 29 hp (21.6 kW) at 3,600 rpm and peak torque of 52.2 ft.-lb. (70.8 Nm) at 2,400 rpm, while the CV832 is rated 32 hp (23.8 kW) at 3,600 rpm and peak torque of 53.1 ft.-lb. (72.0 Nm) at 2,600 rpm. Both models have an 888cc (54.2 cu. in.) displacement and bore x stroke dimensions of 3.5” x 3.1” (90mm x 78.5mm).

A new mechanical governor system is designed to enable rapid power delivery, making the engine suitable for applications requiring instantaneous power and reliability, said Rehlko. Other standard features include a variable timing electronic ignition, 12-volt solenoid start shifter, 20-amp sealed charging regulated with over-voltage protection, solenoid fuel shutdown, engine-mounted oil cooler and more.

Robust engineering and extended maintenance intervals reduce downtime for maximum productivity and low cost of ownership over the engine’s lifespan, Rehlko asserted. The engines come standard with a 6-in. heavy-duty air filter, full-pressure lubrication with full-flow filter and Oil Sentry, easily removable cleanout covers and readily accessible service points, along with other features designed to reduce maintenance and enhance serviceability.
